SW Virginia/NE Tennessee trip
July 3-5, 2010

These photos are from my trip to southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee in July 2010. Photos are from Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. "Road boring?" Why not "road exciting?" These construction signs were seen in Jackson, Ky.

On US 23 near the Virginia/Tennessee line.

The first mile marker for I-26. In the background is the "End I-26" sign for westbound traffic.

This pic is from TN 381 northbound.

Approaching the end of TN 381.

ON TN 36 north approaching TN 381.

Boo. Hiss.

You can see where US 23 and I-181 signs have been removed from this sign.

These next two wide I-26 signs are on TN 346.

On I-81 north.

Now in Virginia.

The I-381 stack interchange.

Nice to see these old signs still up. About all the other old signs in Abingdon, including cutouts, have been replaced.

Lots of Clearview at this intersection.

The US 19 bypass of Lebanon.

It's a long, hard, narrow, twisty, curvy 22 miles, for sure.

This is what much of VA 80 looks like across Hayters Gap -- the part that isn't wrapped up in switchback curves, that is.

This sign is out in the middle of nowhere. Yet someone came out and put up a Clearview mileage board here.

Reaching this point meant I had clinched all of KY-VA 80 from the Mississippi River to hee.

Back on I-81 north.
