Day 2 (AR-OK-MO-KS)

These photos are from my trip to the 2009 Oklahoma City road meet held June 26-27, 2009. These photos are from the second day of the trip and cover Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas. Thumbnails for the 638 photos span six pages. Use the arrow buttons in the upper left corner of the page to navigate the thumbnail pages. Starting the day out early on Day 2 of the trip, with a button copy sign on I-40 west.

The use of the black-on-yellow Clearview font is not sanctioned, yet is common in Arkansas, also Kentucky and Pennsylvania.

Interesting curve warning sign.

Now heading north on AR 7 after visiting Yell County, with the sun beginning to rise.

Unusual placement of the arrows.

Now back on I-40 west.

I-40 heading west.

Mountains in the background.

The morning sun makes this sign hard to read in this picture, but it cautions northbound trucks to Fayetteville to take I-540 instead of US 71.

Flyovers at the I-540 north interchange.

I-40 and I-540 signed together.

On I-540 south.

Now heading north on I-540, back to I-40.

Now back on I-40 west.

Entering Oklahoma, my first visit to the state.

The first I-40 sign in Oklahoma.

Many of Oklahoma's US route markers on green guide signs have a black outline, like this one.

My first encounter with the new style of Oklahoma state route marker.

Oklahoma, too, is now using Clearview.

Many cities have signs like this on Oklahoma's interstates and turnpikes.
