2008 SE Louisiana Road Meet Trip
Aug.-Sept. 2008
Day 5

These photos are from my trip to the southeast Louisiana. road meet in Slidell, La., in August and September 2008. This trip combined the actual journey to Slidell with a multi-day county-collecting and sightseeing trip through Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri. These are photos from the fifth day of the trip, Sept. 1, and they cover Tennessee and Kentucky. The 259 photos are spread out over three pages of thumbnails. Use the arrow buttons in the upper left corner of the page to navigate the thumbnail pages. To view the full-sized photos, click on one of the thumbnails on this page. You will then be presented with navigation controls to view the images on individual Web pages as a slide show.

The final day of the trip starts in Murfreesboro, Tenn., heading west on I-24.

How many names does this road have?

Heading toward Nashville on I-24.

More signage for a dead amusement park.

On the I-24/I-40 combined route.

Looking at the Nashville skyline.

Left is north US 31W/US 41/US 431. Right is south on those routes, plus a ramp to north US 31E and the last few feet of south US 31E.

This sign gives notice that US 31E and US 31W are rejoining.

There are several ways to access US 31E, Ellington Parkway, at this intersection.

At Spring Street and Main Street/Robertson Parkway. This is the spot where US 31W and US 31E come together.

No US 31 sign on this post. You can see signage on I-24 in the background.

This is turned around and heading east across the Cumberland River from downtown Nashville. The sign is mounted on the I-24 bridge.

Here is a ramp to US 31E, Ellington Parkway. It can also be accessed at the next intersection, where US 41, US 431 and US 31W turn left.

Another access point to US 31E.

On Spring Street is where the split of US 31E and US 31W actually takes place.

This shows a bit of the complexity of the intersection here.

This is the split of US 31 into its E and W sections. US 41 and US 431 also follow Spring Street, as does US 31W.

This is the first signage for US 31W.

US 31W splits from US 41.

The overpass carries southbound US 31W to its merge with southbound US 41.
